Keychain Laser Pointer Maintenance
While there may be a keychain laser pointer that’s low cost, most laser devices are not cheap gadgets and some require special care. In fact, there are some that can run up to several hundred dollars believe it or not but most of the time the price is heavily dependent on the power of the laser and the color frequency. The typical laser has a reported life from 5,000 to 8,000 hours but can be much higher if maintained properly. Here are tips to maintaining a keychain laser pointer.
1. Remove the batteries when not in use
It’s easy to forget to take out the batteries when the keychain laser pointer is not in use but be sure to remember to do this. Leaving the batteries can cause corrosion on the battery terminals which could lead to other problems.
2. Keep the lens covered when not in use
Most laser pointers will come with a carrying case or some type of pouch to keep it protected. The lenses of laser devices are extremely sensitive to dust and even a tiny piece can result in a spotted laser beam. Be sure to use the proper cleaning cloths to wipe off any dust on the lens.
3. Store in room temperature
Lasers pointers can become faulty when exposed to extreme heat or cold so be sure to store the keychain laser pointer in room temperature between 0 to 40 degrees Celsius.
These are just maintenance tips for taking care of your keychain laser pointer. Be sure to always handle it with care and to keep safety factors in mind. Be sure never to drop your keychain laser pointer.
